One of my guilty pleasures is photographing my food. In my family food is an expression of love and togetherness. I have recently started a project documenting all of my family recipes. Many of my grandmother’s recipes are “a little of this, and a dash of that.” I hope to incorporate my two favorite loves–photography and food, into a wonderful keepsake cookbook for my family for years to come.
I’ll let you in on one of our family’s secret…We have perfect pie crust EVERY TIME! And the secret is:

Pillsbury Pie Crusts! My grandmother, Mimmie, always says why slave on trying to get the perfect crust when you can just buy them in the refrigerated section!
Tonight I have baked 4, count them FOUR, pies for Thanksgiving.
My family loves Pecan Pie. My grandmother has always made Pecan Pie on Thanksgiving. I have taken over the reins as pie baker and I’m proud that everyone says my pies taste just like hers.

I have posted the recipe here.
And of course it wouldn’t be Thanksgiving if I didn’t tell you that I was thankful for these two goofballs!

And no Thanksgiving would be complete without Pumpkin Pie. This recipe has been handed down from my great-grandmother. I love that it’s not too sweet.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Remember what the holiday is about, be thankful for all things in your life and enjoy the blessing of family!
And if you want to see more pictures of food the You Capture theme this week is “Food” on the I Should Be Folding Laundry Blog.
