Calling

There’s a voice inside of me. A pull.  Sometimes it’s a little monster scratching and tearing, begging to be fed. That is my passion about photography. I went to college at Concordia University in Austin. Many of my friends were studying to enter the ministry. They described their desire as a calling. I never understood…

Random Friday | Robinwood Photography

1. I have a new favorite pen.  They are from Sharpie and don’t bleed through the paper.  Perfect for writing, as well as doodling.  (I’m a big doodler while I’m on the phone.)  I have been using these pens for a week now and I’m in love! 2. I watched The Divine Secrets of the…

Random Friday | Robinwood Photography

I love Fridays.  I love that they are the end of the work week, yet the beginning to the weekend.  I love that Friday is a day I know I will have more time with my family to just unwind and prepare for tasks ahead.  To celebrate Fridays I will dedicate my blog to totally random thoughts,…

Kindred

I’m not the biggest coffee drinker.  I honestly didn’t even drink coffee until about 6 years ago.  Now I find that I only like coffee when it’s cold outside…and then only lattes.  My husband likes to razz me about drinking “fru-fru” coffee.  (He’s been known to drink yesterday’s coffee cold.) Diet Coke, on the other…

Small Business Saturday! | Austin Wedding Photographer

It’s Small Business Saturday.  Yeah, until this week I hadn’t heard of it either.  It’s a great idea though.  Our ecomony is not as fat as it used to be.  We all are  figuring out ways to make our dollar stretch further.  I know as a small business owner I can not compete with the large portrait…

Fear | Austin Texas Wedding Photographer

I hate snakes.  They are cold and slither on the ground…and in the Bible the Devil came as a snake….which makes me hate them more.  I fear snakes even more than I hate them. I have real reasons to fear snakes. When I was a young girl we would tromp all over the countryside at…

What IS a Veteran?

Every year the local morning show reads this passage.  I chose to post it here so that we can all think about what Veteran’s Day is really all about. “Thank You” just doesn’t seem like enough! What Is A Veteran? by Marine Corp chaplain, Father Denis Edward O’Brian Some veterans bear visible signs of their…

Why I am not a Craigslist Photographer

I’m working really hard to build the Wedding Photography end of my business.  I mean REALLY hard.  It’s a catch-22, people want you to have a rocking portfolio, but brides won’t book if you haven’t shot a ton of weddings….see what I mean? So what’s a photographer to do?  Well…first of all you 2nd shoot…

VOTE!

I voted! It’s a simple sticker we get as we walk out of the polling place.  But as I grabbed my sticker this morning to hustle off to work (late again) and as I stuck it to my blouse I thought of what that really represented. My Maternal Grandfather was at Pearl Harbor on December…

Bubba

This is my husband’s dog Bubba. He’s a good dog.  I don’t mind him much.  However, his kennel is to the left of my desk in the living room.  If you have a Boston Terrier then you know they are infamous for their gas.   Let’s just say that he’s lucky his snaggle tooth grin…
