Carly and Raymond contacted me to squeeze in a quick engagement session before their wedding coming up on September 18th. They are a couple who is very much in love, which you can see in these photos. It was a great bonus that they decided to bring their puppy, Sydney.

It’s great when I have a session where I have so many great photos I can’t pick a favorite! Normally I return 20-40 images for a couple to choose from. With this session there were over 70 images I sent to Carly and Raymond to choose from!

I am offering engagement sessions for all of my weddings booked for 2010 and 2011! If you or someone you know is getting married pass my information along! I love capturing a couple’s love during an engagement session.

OpLove Family Session-San Gabriel Park Georgetown

I met up with Dale, Linda and their children Friday afternoon in San Gabriel Park in Georgetown. Dale will be leaving this week for a tour in Iraq. Part of my volunteer work is doing sessions for families who have a loved one deploying to combat. Once Dale is in Iraq I will be mailing him an album of all the photos from this session.

Their children were adorable. I know they will miss their Daddy while he is gone.

The boys proudly modeled Daddy’s helmet.

While Daddy’s little girl stood proudly with his Stetson.

We took a little time out to feed the ducks and geese that live in the park. Making a few more memories before Dad deploys.

Desi, the Black Miniature Poodle

Yesterday I met Katie at Old Settler’s Park to photograph her black miniature poodle, Desi. She rescued Desi from a poodle rescue in Houston.

She named him Desmond in honor of her favorite show LOST.

He was a good boy and sat for his photos. Like most dogs he’s do just about anything for a treat!

I love this shot. Katie wanted to be in a few photos with Desi. I though of this pose which would include her but still showcase Desi.

Katie loves Desi and I can see why. He’s a great dog!

Beauty and the Beast

This week I got a new toy. A new 50 mm lens to be exact. I had a 50 mm lens that I loved, but it was the “entry” level lens–plastic, small and slow. I knew my new lens would be great but I had no idea how much of a difference there was between the 2 lenses.

The lens on the left is my 1st 50 mm lens. It weighs in at a measly 5.5 ounces. It’s lightweight and was my first prime lens–and only cost $100. I love it–I called it “Beauty” because I would get beautiful images. However, I knew it wasn’t a perfect lens; it was slow to focus and had its limits. The lens on the right is my NEW 50mm lens. It weighs in at a whopping 1 pound 5.9 ounces! It’s a beast. It is one of the best lenses you can own for shooting weddings and portraits. (And I take the 5th on the price!!) I call this lens “The Beast” because it is a monster.

There is a purpose behind this post (Although my friend Gerald will think it’s just to show off my cool lens). Serious pro photographers invest in their business. I have invested money not only into education but into my equipment. I only shoot with the highest quality Canon lenses I can buy. These lenses are crafted to take sharp, clear images in any lighting situation. These are lenses that “Uncle Bob” wouldn’t be able to buy with his camera at Best Buy. My gear is the best so that I can create the best possible image for you. Quality comes at a price and I pay that price to have the best for my business and my clients. The quality of the gear should be something you consider when hiring a photographer.

Robinwood Photography’s Home Office

Sunday the family and I hiked over to IKEA to search their vast showroom storefront for a desk for me to set up for my home office. If you have ever been to IKEA you know you can’t just walk in and walk to the desks. The store’s designers crafted the layout of the showroom to be a long trail through every department. A trail that is so long, winding and overwhelming they thought ahead and put a food court at the half-way part so that you can feed your hungry kids as they melt down and cry “Can we please go home now!?!?” Only then do you have the joy of locating all of the items you want out of the self-serve warehouse. My husband lovingly pushed through the crowds and loaded my desk and chair onto the flatbed dolly only to come home and have to put the dang stuff together. But all of the craziness is worth it because I now have a home office.

It’s it nice? Let’s play a game of I Spy!

1. My calendar–Which is filling up FAST! (and I couldn’t be more excited!)

2. Diet Coke. Yeah, I know it’s not good for me, but I’m better than I used to be.

3. Stack of CF memory cards. I’ve had to buy extra recently because of all of the sessions I have ahead!

4. Kettle ball on the entertainment center–see the dust on the handle? Tells you how much I use it!

5. Dog Kennels–we won’t talk about the kennels, or the doggie smells

6. External Hard Drive. I am so excited to keep this plugged up and ready to go for backing up sessions.

7. Pink To Do Lists. I have multiple to do lists going at any given time.

8. Netflix by the TV that haven’t been mailed back yet. Wait. Let me add that to my to do list.

9. My point and shoot camera. I don’t take the big camera with me everywhere.

This is going to be a busy office over the next week. Look for blog posts on my marathon week ahead!

Oh My Goodness, Did You Hear? Call Me!

Oh my goodness, did you hear???

No, what?

Robinwood Photography’s calendar is starting to fill up fast. You better get your family session booked quickly for Fall and Holiday Photos!

Wow, Thanks for telling me. I know I want her to do my family portraits this year. She did our family’s Christmas Cards last year and everyone said I was the most adorable baby ever. I can’t wait to see what ideas Susan comes up with this year now that I can hold my head up.

Time to text Susan and get our next session booked with Robinwood Photography! Then I’m going to text everyone I know and tell them how great our photo shoot was today! We had so much fun!

Today’s shoot was with Tisha’s sweet grand babies! Aren’t they adorable!?! I have to admit it was Tisha’s idea to give the kids their cell phones. It’s so cute that at 1 and 2 year old both kiddos knew exactly what to do with those phones!

This post has some truth to it as well! Now that the weather is turning cooler my calendar is starting to book up. Send me a message via my contact me page with dates you would like to book. My Beautiful Best Friend Amy

I am so proud of my friend Amy. She has been working so hard to eat right and exercise. She has lost a 5th grader worth of weight and has a rocking body to prove it. She and her husband, Clint just celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. (She was a child bride for sure!) If you scan my sight you will likely see quite a few photos of Amy and her family. I am their “Official Family Photographer.” Hey, it’s what happens when you are best friends with a photographer. Never fear, she’s a dental assistant and I all I have to say to is that Amy helps keep my smile bright :)!!!!

Amy and I did an abbreviated Boudoir session last Sunday. I have to say that she is strikingly beautiful. This photo is pretty much straight out of my camera.

Amy is a shining example of all of the beautiful ladies out there! I think all of you should have a Boudoir session for Mr. Wonderful. If you want to learn more about the experience let me know. I will be happy to talk you through or to let Amy tell you all about it!

Proof He Loves Me

My husband loves me. He makes me pizza. From scratch. Even the cheese.

When you come home from work after a long and stressful week it’s nice to have the world’s best pizza waiting for you. And now he has run to the store to get some ice cream for dessert. That’s a good man.

Don’t be jealous.

…and no, he doesn’t have a brother.

Turning One….

I posted a sneak peak of AB’s session a few days ago. That photo I posted was my favorite of the session. But this child is so precious I had a hard time narrowing down the number of images for her mom to choose from!

This photo looks like a greeting card or painting.

She giggled as her mom sang her special song.

She’s already an avid reader and enjoys a good book.

This little girl has big things ahead! She is so smart and beautiful nothing is going to stop her!

Photo Booth Equals Lots of Party Fun

I was asked by Texans for Accountable Government (TAG) to set up my photo booth at their 2nd Anniversary Party last weekend. Having a photo booth set up in the corner of a room is a great way to get your guests to cut loose a little. After the party your guests can have a fun souvenir from the event.
