A photographer friend contacted me a while back about joining her for a workshop in Austin. I was hesitant. There are TONS of workshops out there and often you pay big bucks and end up disappointed after you attend. Thankfully, this workshop was inspirational and informative. I was slightly disappointed with the lack of models, though. Thankfully we were with a bunch of great folks who volunteered to model for each other so we can try our new lighting techniques.

I learned so many new tricks that will help take my photography to an entirely different level. I’m still practicing and refining these new techniques.

I attended a workshop taught by Ross Benton last Saturday. Ross is an awesome photography ninja from San Antonio who masters everything from Babies to Brides. His workshop focused on lighting techniques I can use to make my sessions better. One of the best things I learned from this session was off camera lighting which will allow me to control lighting during out door shoots!!! It’s very exciting! Here are a few of our awesome model Alora.

Continuing Education is important to me. I believe that by being mentored by leaders in my industry I can grow into the best photographer I can be. I came home from the workshop fired up, inspired and ready to capture your family’s special moments.
