  • Hi! My name is Susan and I am a storyteller. I love reading, I love writing but most of all I love using my art to tell a story that needs no words. My photographs capture the moments and the details of my clients' lives. This blog is a place where I share these stories.

Sheana’s Maternity Session | Georgetown Berry Springs Park

If you know me, you know that I love Facebook.  My brother teases me endlessly about updating my status to tell everyone that I ate supper or got out of bed.  I just stick my tongue out at him for that, but I digress…  HOWEVER, what I really LOVE about Facebook is how I have been able to keep in touch with folks that I might otherwise not speak with on a day to day basis.  Sheana and I would not have daily interactions with out Facebook!  Sheana was Emmie’s first grade teacher.  A year later she left our school when her first son was born.  Fast forward four years and she’s expecting her second son.  Through Facebook she’s been able to watch my girls grow and I’m getting the privilege to see her family grow this year by one!  YEA for Facebook!

I was thrilled to capture this family as they start a new journey by welcoming their second son in just a few weeks.  Congratulations Sheana!  I’m so happy for you and the three men in your life!

Jes + David are married! | Round Rock Courthouse Wedding

Some love stories are so moving they should be made into movies.  Jes and David have a story like that.  David is from Scotland.  Jes is from Texas.  They fell in love and carried on a modern day long distance relationship.  Through email, social media and Skype Jes and David spent many hours together.  Jes traveled to Scotland to visit David.  And in January of 2010 David visited Texas.  During that visit David proposed to Jes and she said yes.  But like any good love story there is an antagonist who is set to keep our lovers apart.  In their story the antagonist was the INS.  As soon as David returned to Scotland he started the application process for a Visa to come to the US and marry Jes.  Through a Facebook group Jes and David kept all of their friends and family updated on the process of getting David back to the US.  The amount of red tape that these guys went through is nuts!  The application and supporting paperwork looked like a manuscript, then there were interviews and even a physical exam for David.  Along with the stress of the application Jes and David were thinking about wedding plans.  The most stressful requirement of a fiance visa is that Jes and David had to be legally married within 90 days of his arrival in the US.  Jes was so stressed about finding a venue to book for a wedding that they really didn’t know the date for.  It was nuts.  I felt so sorry for Jes.  She had her groom, she had her dress, I was more than willing and ready to be their photographer but she didn’t know when her wedding would take place.  To lessen the stress the decision was made to have two weddings.  Jes and David would have a simple courthouse wedding once David arrived in Texas.  Then, in 2013 they would have their “Wedding” complete with the party they both dream of on their first anniversary.

So Jes and David are married.  But they like to call this their paper marriage.  They shared this very special ceremony with Jes’s family.  We then headed to Old Settler’s Park for some fun photos of the newlyweds.  Afterwards everyone headed to lunch at a local restaurant where my friends treated me to lunch and a drink as well.  Totally awesome way to end the afternoon.

Jes and David have a lot to do now after moving a new place to live, David getting used to Texas and their Big wedding to plan!  Congratulations on the paper wedding and Welcome to Texas David!  I can’t wait to see all of the kilts at next year’s “Big” wedding!

Beautiful memories I am sure they will cherish for a lifetime and will be a great story starter for sharing with the future generations. So blessed by their story and what Love can do.

Happy Valentine’s Day from Robinwood Photography!

I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine’s Day.  I spent the afternoon in Clara’s class for their Valentine’s party.  I forgot how bad a room full of 4th graders can smell after recess.

The girls and I made their Valentine’s Cards this year.  We were inspired by an idea we found on Pinterest.  We couldn’t settle on just one pose so we created 6 poses per girl.   My eyes were blurry after I went to bed on Sunday night at midnight, but their cards are so cute!

Here are the final cards via my Instagram:

Here are the images without the suckers so you can see all of the details.

Architects of Air Exhibit | Austin Photographer

This morning I met up with a few local photographers to shoot at the Architects of Air Exhibit at the Long Center.  These luminaries are giant inflatables and art projects.  You move from room to room through canvas tunnels.  The tone of your mood is really changed by the colors of the room.  We had a blast shooting there.  I really recommend a trip to visit if you can squeeze it in  Unfortunately, tomorrow is the last day.  I love the images I captured today.  The little boy is my neighbor who has been hanging out for me for a few days.

Shanna Beats Cancer! | Austin Family Photographer

I have so many wonderful friends on Facebook, several of which are just that, friends on Facebook.  Shanna is one of those friends.  I met her through other folks on Facebook and we became friends.  (You might also recognize her as the runner up in my Hot Mama Contest.) When Shanna announced that she had been diagnosed with cervical cancer I was shocked.  She was a young mother with two very young children and a loving husband.  I shook my head in disbelief that cancer had attacked one more person that I knew.  But Shanna prepared for a fight.  She was not going to let cancer win.  She let everyone know that she was going to fight.  She called on her prayer warriors to pray for her as she underwent surgery and treatment.  She kept her friends and family updated through her Caring Bridge Journal.  After she finished her last round of chemo we made plans to do a family photo shoot.  I was thrilled to hear that her scans came back clear and that she was cancer free.  Her shoot became a celebration for beating cancer!  Cancer picked the wrong girl because she kicked cancer to the curb!

To a long happy life, my friend!  Cheers!

January is Cervical Cancer Awareness month.  Shanna says that she was able to beat cancer because it was caught in time.  Ladies, it’s important that you have a regular exam!  This month wear teal to remind others about cervical cancer and to celebrate that Shanna is a survivor!

Susan I am so glad that I met you, and being runner-up in a contest meant that I would win something even better. You have been awesome! You never failed to pray when I asked, and you always seemed to know when I needed someone to just i.m. me.
Thank you for being a friend, when so many of the people I thought were disappeared.
